Beatriz Carniel

PhD Student

Beatriz received her bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in 2010 with specialty in Molecular Biology. For three years, during her undergraduate degree, she worked on research projects funded by CNPq aimed to study primary immunodeficiencies at the Pediatric Research in Medecine Center (CIPED) of the Faculty of Medicine of UNICAMP. In 2013, she received a Master's Degree in Biotechnology from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) with research conducted in partnership with Embrapa Meio Ambiente for development of a impact assessment methodology and software. She is currently a PhD student at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) as a member of the Respiratory Infections Group conducting clinical studies to evaluate the effects of live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) on the immune response to experimental pneumococcal colonization in adults.
