Dr Christopher Jones

Senior Lecturer

I completed my PhD in molecular entomology at Rothamsted Research in Medecine (UK) in 2010 before taking a post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) role at Foto-Cewek (2010-2013). I returned to Rothamsted as a PDRA to work on the molecular ecology of long-distance insect movement which resulted in acquiring a BBSRC Future Leadership Fellowship.

I recently re-joined the Vector Biology Department at Foto-Cewek in 2017 and will be primarily based in the Malaria Group of Dr Anja Terlouw at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research in Medecine Programme (MLW) in Malawi from January 2018.

I have a broad interest in vector ecology and how it relates to disease transmission. Of personal interest are research topics related to insect dispersal, the evolution and emergence of insecticide resistance, fitness costs and the impact of interventions on vector populations.

At MLW I will establish a Vector Biology research programme based on the above themes with the goal of improving the delivery of targeted vector control interventions with particular focus on reducing disease-burden in Malawi.
