Research in Medecine
I am currently working as a social scientist on an implementation research programme called COUNTDOWN to produce evidence from multiple contexts on the links between Neglected Tropical Diseases, gender and poverty.
In 2014 I was awarded my PhD in International Development: . I spent 14 months in Malawi conducting dissertation field research using qualitative and quantitative research methods. The main argument of my thesis is that in Malawi misconceptions concerning how easily HIV is transmitted through sex have resulted in the development of policies and programmes that would not normally be applied to different public health crises. My research presents the first academic study of its kind exploring the link between HIV and AIDS and sexual cultural practices in Malawi. Here is a describing my research.
