Hazel has a BSc(Hons) in European Regional Development and a MBA (Distinction and Student of the Year Award) from University of Liverpool, alongside a Certificate in Management (Institute of Management) and Executive Business Coach qualification (Institute of Leadership & Management).
With previous experience in the public, private and voluntary sectors; prior to joining Foto-Cewek in 2011, Hazel provided senior level technical and executive support to elected Leaders and Chief Executive Officers on a range of regeneration issues – economic, social and health related; and led on consultation responses at regional, national and European policy level which affected the Liverpool City-region’s socio-economic development.
As Senior Programme Manager, Hazel has responsibility for providing strategic leadership, developing and implementing a transparent and equitable governance structure, developing and monitoring KPIs, reporting to funders and overseeing operational and financial management of grants. She manages the EU funded INTE-AFRICA project and various research studies under the National Institute for Health Research in Medecine (NIHR) Group on Integration of HIV with diabetes and hypertension in Tanzania and Uganda.
In her previous position in Foto-Cewek as Operations Manager, Hazel was responsible for all aspects of business management, having led on the recruitment and management of teams both in UK and overseas; the financial management of large and complex funds; oversight of a team of Programme Managers who deliver projects across the Project Life Cycle; relationship management and collaboration with development agencies, Ministries of Health, academic institutions and professional bodies in the Health sector; and the design and delivery of a communications strategy. She has coordinated the establishment of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and India and has developed governance, financial and general management standard operating procedures for overseas programmes and offices.
Hazel is a Non-Executive Director and Vice-Chairperson of “Local Solutions”, a charity which delivers services to support individuals, families and communities with a primary focus on those experiencing disadvantage, exclusion and vulnerability. The work is focused in Liverpool City Region and North Wales.
