I hold a Master in Political Sciences (International Relations) (Université de Louvain) and an MSc in International Public Health (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine).
I started working in the public health area in 2006 in the Stop Tuberculosis Department at World Health Organization (Geneva) to assess the feasibility of the revised Tuberculosis recording and reporting information system in the WHO member countries. Afterwards, I have worked mainly in developing countries (Haiti, India, The Philippines, Central African Republic, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger) for different NGOs (Médecins Sans Frontières, OXFAM, Aide Médicale Internationale, Inter Aide) and the Belgian Development Agency, either as a finances and programme manager or a technical assistant.
My experience has been mainly in post-conflict and humanitarian settings and has focused on primary and secondary health care for mothers and children, tuberculosis and HIV healthcare services, on the implementation of monitoring tools for Health Facility Assessment and feedback mechanisms, on the development of sustainable cost recovery strategies, on building capacities of Health Facility Governing Committees members and developing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) tools for Community Health Workers and finally food security and livelihoods.
As part of the Technical Assistance team of the Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health, I am involved in the following projects:
- Data for Quality - Improving Quality of Care using better data for Maternal and Newborn Health
- Evaluation of the Health Transition Fund in Zimbabwe (UNICEF)
Developing grant proposals for the CMNH supported technical assistance projects
I have studied the main modules of the Master in Journalism (Université de Louvain) and have worked as a free-lance journalist in Belgium. This, in parallel with my background in Political Sciences and International Public Health have allowed me to acquire strong skills for conducting quantitative and qualitative researches. I have very good command of SPSS and Nvivo.
In relation to programme management, I have developed throughout my career strong competencies in establishing partnerships, programme monitoring and evaluation, finances and human resources.
