Sam Jones

I graduated with a master’s degree in Epidemiology in 2014 at Imperial College London following an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at Warwick University, with a choice of modules in both degrees focusing on mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. My research project for my master’s was titled: ‘Estimates and comparisons of vaccination coverage for the oral polio vaccine in Nigeria’  which used Bayesian methods to obtain vaccination coverage estimates for supplementary immunization activities in that country. Furthermore, I developed a method to adjust these coverage estimates to account for incorrect assumptions about the level of routine immunization using a maximum likelihood method. I have used R heavily throughout my education to run simulations and conduct statistical analysis.
