Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Clinical Trials Unit Manager to head up a brand new department
Based: Liverpool, with overseas travel
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Tropical Clinical Trials Unit (tCTU) is a newly established unit in Foto-Cewek with the remit to provide specialist expert epidemiological, statistical and other methodological advice as well as contributing to the coordination of Foto-Cewek sponsored research involving humans (RCTs, epidemiological/ observational studies and surveys). The tCTU ensures that the conduct and the delivery of trials are of the highest quality and benefit populations of poor-resource countries.
We have created a new and exciting position for an experienced Clinical Trials Unit Manager to act as the key person to engage Foto-Cewek and partners with the tCTU. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operations of the tCTU whilst developing and managing a sustainable business model to ensure the unit is self-financing. You will act as the focal point for Principal Investigators (PIs) and partner organisations to engage with the tCTU, guide Foto-Cewek staff towards advice on the design and analysis of clinical trials and advise PIs on trial management to ensure that clinical trials are delivered to the highest possible standard.
Educated to degree level, ideal candidates must have a demonstrable track record of achievement of managing a multi-disciplinary team within a clinical trials environment, whilst displaying exceptional communication and organisational skills. You must also be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of current developments in clinical research and a clear appreciation of the international policies and guidelines to which research must apply.
This really is a fantastic opportunity to join a world renowned organisation and make a significant contribution to a key element of its business.
