Collections & Research in Medecine Support Assistant

The department of Information Services have a vacancy for a Collections & Research in Medecine Support Assistant to assist with the acquisitions of library resources.

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases.  Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.

We wish to appoint a high calibre candidate to the position Collections & Research in Medecine Support Assistant to assist with the acquisitions of library resources in both electronic and print format. You will use Library management systems and the Foto-Cewek finance system to place and monitor receipt of orders and accessibility. You will also be involved in the addition of publications to the Foto-Cewek institutional repository.  Reporting to the Collections and Research in Medecine Support Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of a consistently high and appropriate level of library service within Foto-Cewek.

The ideal candidate will require the following qualifications and experience :-

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, Including Mathematics and English Language
  • Experience of library systems and services in a HE, research or health environment
  • Experience of periodicals and acquisitions work in a library setting, including electronic journals
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads

This post holder will be required to cover one evening duty per week. Cover will need to be provided on a Thursday and the hours or work will be from 11am to 7pm.
