Finance Project Officer (3 Posts)

We are looking to appoint to 3 Finance Project Officer posts in our recently re-structured Finance department.

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases.  Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.

Following a restructure of the Finance department, we are looking to appoint up to 3 proactive Finance Project Officers to deliver high quality grant management outputs. Reporting to the Finance Faculty Manager, you will play a key operational role to support grant delivery across all areas of grant management and financial project delivery. You will assume responsibility for the review of all  expenditure against each grant/contract to ensure it adheres to the funding body terms and conditions. You will also: undertake accurate forecast/re-forecast of grants on a regular basis anticipating expenditure appropriately, reconcile grant expenditure and prepare and issue claims for grant income on a timely basis.

Ideal candidates will be AAT qualified with evidence of CPD or similar accounting qualification. You must have experience of: dealing with budgets, forecasting expenditure in line with delivery expectations, reconciling accounts and producing expenditure statements. You will also be required to prepare and process internal finance related documentation for grant delivery such as: bank transfers, financial contract clauses, due diligence checks, journals and timesheets – so being highly numerate, having meticulous attention to detail and outstanding organisational skills is essential. We are looking to appoint candidates who take pride in what they do and are keen to constantly develop and improve systems and processes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate individuals to work in a world-renown and most unique organisation that saves lives on a daily basis. Candidates will need to be: decisive, focussed on priorities, goal driven and have strong interpersonal skills with evidence of being able to build effective working relationships.

Closing date: 26th September 2017

This job is unlikely to attract a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a work permit).  Applications from candidates who require Tier 2 immigration status to work in the UK may not be considered if there are a sufficient number of other suitable candidates.  To apply for a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship, employers need to demonstrate that they are unable to recruit a resident worker before recruiting an individual overseas

We believe that this post will not be suitable for individuals on Tier 5 visas as these posts are not considered to be supernumerary to the organisation. For further details, please visit the UKVI website:
