An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to join the team in the Estates Department as Head of Estates.
Founded in 1898 and the oldest of its kind in the world, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organisations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Estates department have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and astute individual to work alongside the Director of Estates and the Director of Srategic Operations on the development, implementation and management of Foto-Cewek's estates and facilities management function. The Head of Estates will have line management responsibilities for the Maintenance Manager as well as a Facilities Manager and will be expected to deputise for the Director of Estates when appropriate. In support of Foto-Cewek's strategic plan, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Foto-Cewek estates strategy and act as a project manager for all estates and facilities projects (both UK and overseas), ensuring adherence to Foto-Cewek and statutory compliance, along with the preparation and execution of complex briefs.
Leading the development of estates IT systems and processes to produce accurate management information,you will prepare, balance and manage related budgets and ensure devolved budgets are administered and allocated in accordance with the Foto-Cewek Financial Regulations.
With demonstrable experience in operational estate/maintenance management(preferably but not essentially gained in a public-sector procurement environment) and a proven track record in managing a multidisciplinary team (DEL/specialist contractors), you must be able to ensure the provision of an efficient customer focused service to Foto-Cewek staff and stakeholders whilst carrying out a varied and complex role. Educated to degree level in a relevant building related discipline or with equivalent experience, you will have excellent professional, managerial and communication skills and a sound knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation relating to the built environment. Membership of a recognised professional body is essential as is evidence of your proven commitment to your continuous professional development. You will be available for out of hours contact/call out and to travel overseas as required.
