Reporting to the Director of IT, the Operations Manager will take responsibility for managing IT projects and provide hardware and software solutions across our incredibly diverse organisation. You will be expected to contribute to future planning and development of network resources and ensure all staff have optimum access to, and implementation of, technology services and resources. A key element of the post will be contributing to the strategic planning of the department, including the consideration of major IT developments, liaison with external bodies and ensuring a secure and efficient ICT environment for all staff and students.
Ideal candidates will have a demonstrable track record of achievement at managerial level within a forward thinking IT business environment. Ideally degree qualified within a computer related field, you must also be able to evidence a passion for IT along with a background of continued professional development that keeps you abreast of constant changes within the computing environment. Advanced knowledge of cloud processing and storage services is essential for this post, as is good experience in overall management of the service desk function.
Alongside your technical experience and knowledge, you must have excellent people management skills as well as proficiency in communication and presentation in order to communicate complex IT concepts to a non-technical audience. For project management tasks to be delivered to tight deadlines and budgets, you must also be able to demonstrate an ability to manage your time effectively.
