LITE are looking to appoint 2 Research in Medecine Assistants to design and analyse research to support the IVCC project pipeline.
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments and other organisations and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Department of Vector Biology have an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher to work as part of Liverpool Insect Testing Establishment (LITE). With a wide range of projects related to insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors of malaria on-going or in development by the Innovative Vector Control Consortium(IVCC), there is a need for two new Research in Medecine Assistants to take the lead in designing, executing and analysing innovative research to support the IVCC project pipeline.
The ideal candidate will be educated to a graduate degree level in a relevant subject, and be able to work independently and efficiently to develop and manage their own projects, responding quickly to new demands and ideas. Although knowledge of insecticide resistance and experience working with mosquito bioassays would be advantageous, key to these roles will be an enthusiasm for at least some of the following areas: novel methodologies, equipment development, new chemistries and their interaction with physical surfaces and biological targets, and mosquito behaviour and physiology. The ability to develop data collection methods to capture qualitative and quantitative data, and to present protocols and results orally and in writing,is important.
The successful candidates will be able to prioritise, organise efficiently, work independently and use their own initiative to balance a varied and busy workload.
