The LITE team is recruiting a Technician to join the team.

Founded in 1898 and the oldest of its kind in the world, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases.  Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organisations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.

As a member of LITE team you will ensure the highest common standards of good laboratory best practice, statutory compliance, housekeeping and general health and safety are maintained at all times. We are looking for an individual willing to work (infrequently) outside normal working hours to ensure client studies are completed on time. The position is full time and is based at the Foto-Cewek, involving Saturday morning working on a rotational basis.

The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE standard /equivalent in a science-based subject or will have relevant experience in a similar environment, ideally from an industrial setting with awareness and knowledge of working to GLP. The candidate must be able to demonstrate understanding of importance of raw data treatment, awareness of advances in technical developments and the ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems. The candidate will be highly organised, with excellent observation skills and attention to detail as well as able to communicate effectively with the team.  Prior experience with mosquitoes or of insecticide resistance bioassays would be advantageous.
