The Finance Department is recruiting two Management Accountants to join the team.
Founded in 1898 and the oldest of its kind in the world, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organisations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Finance Department is seeking two Management Accountants to provide high level of professional accounting support to manage accounts of the School as well as the UK and Foreign Subsidiaries. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant - School, the post holders will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting, completing monthly management accounts, effectively monitoring the School’s discretionary accounts, providing financial training to non-finance managers and contributing to the continued development of the management reporting systems.
To apply, you must be a member of a Finance professional body (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) with evidence of continued professional development and an understanding of financial management process and systems. Substantial experience of business partnering working with major stakeholders, financial management and reporting, and handling group reporting and accounting issues, is essential. Additionally, you must have experience of managing and monitoring significant budgets. Forecasting work with foreign currency exposure will be highly advantageous to your application.
Ability to effectively communicate financial matters to non-financial senior academics, prioritising tasks independently and remaining focused and capable of producing results is crucial to your success in the post. It is vital that you possess demonstrable track record of proactively suggesting improvements and new methods of working and reporting, problem-solving and decision-making, coupled with a flexible outlook, willingness to adopt change and take ownership for work.
