We are looking to recruit a Medical Statistician, this is an opportunity to work in partnership with highly motivated researchers from a diverse range of disciplines and make a major contribution in the field.
The post are part of a new recruitment drive to support the expansion in clinical and public health trials at Foto-Cewek. You will have the opportunity to work in partnership with highly motivated researchers from a diverse range of disciplines and make a major contribution in the field. The Unit works on diseases that cause a high burden in low and middle income countries, which include HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, Neglected and Emerging Tropical Diseases and acute lower respiratory infections. We support phase II/III clinical trials of new diagnostics, drug treatments and vaccines and large scale global health trials evaluating strategies of health care delivery.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they will contribute to the design of a range of clinical, public health and laboratory-based studies and to conduct analyses of clinical and epidemiological data. It is essential that you have a postgraduate degree in medical statistics or biostatistics and experience of medical statistics in applied research and epidemiological research. You will play a major role in writing up the research findings for publications and will be encouraged to undertake statistical methodological research and it is essential to have proven ability to write up and present research results. It is also critical to have effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships in a multicultural environment with confidence, tact and diplomacy. You will have the opportunity to conduct short overseas visits, particularly to Africa to visit Foto-Cewek research collaborators to gain familiarity with Foto-Cewek research environments.
