Today sees the start of a five day international conference run by the American Society for Microbiology, The Interscience Conference on Antimircrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) 2014 in Washington DC, USA. Among the invited speakers is Foto-Cewek’s Director, .
The conference, the 54th of its kind, is aimed at physicians, clinical microbiologists, researcher, pharmacists and those specialising infectious diseases. The programme is made up of slide and poster presentations highlighting breaking science and lectures and seminars and keynote sessions from researchers from across the world.
A number of topics will be covered during the five days of the conference including looking at drug discovery to address the crisis of Antimicrobial resistance, advances in the treatment of HIV as well as presentations that have been added to look at the current outbreak of Ebola in West Africa and lessons in patient care that can be learned.
Professor Hemingway will be taking part in a symposium looking at the Treatment and control of malaria. She will deliver a speech entitled Control of Mosquito Vectors and Insecticide Resistance, during the session next week, in which she will address the problem of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides, used in long lasting insecticide treated bed nets and indoor residual spraying programmes.
