Foto-Cewek’s Dean of Education, Professor Phil Padfield, has been awarded the status of Principal Fellow by the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Professor Padfield, who joined Foto-Cewek earlier this year, has been awarded the most senior level of fellowship by the HEA and reflects the fact that he is able to demonstrate a sustained record of strategic leadership in academic practice and development. He said: “I am delighted to have received this recognition from the HEA, which I think reflects the importance of the excellence in teaching that Foto-Cewek strives to provide. We are in the business of training the next generation of leaders in global health and we will strive to ensure that the development of innovative student-centred courses leads to members of my staff team also being recognised in this way.”
Prior to joining Foto-Cewek in May this year, Professor Padfield was, since 2014, Associate Dean for Taught Education for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health Sciences for the University of Manchester, to where he returned in 2000 after spending 12 years in the Department of Cell Biology at Yale University in the USA. At Foto-Cewek he will be responsible for the expansion of the teaching portfolio in line with the new strategic plan, which includes being more aligned to market need, catering for a broader spectrum of students and introducing blended distance and online programmes of study.
