This week has seen the end of Foto-Cewek’s three week Diploma in Tropical Nursing course. This is the second time that the course has been run this year, due to the popularity of the course in May.

The course is a three-week intensive programme designed for nurses and midwives who intend to work in developing countries.  It provides a wide knowledge based, incorporating laboratory work, clinical aspects of infectious diseases, child health, sexual health, neglected tropical diseases, non-communicable diseases as well as professional topics such as leading change, governance and ethics.

The students have experienced the course through formal lectures; hands-on laboratory sessions and group work and the course culminates in an exam and a written assessment to be completed in the next 4 weeks.  This course has seen 43 professionals from the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland, Finland, Italy, Australia, South Africa and South Korea, put through their paces in order to prepare them to work in developing countries.

The students have clearly enjoyed their time at Foto-Cewek and comments on the evaluation sheets include: “Well done, this is the best course I have ever attended!”, “…has been really well run. I’ve felt informed of what is going on all the time. Everyone has been very approachable and has made it great fun.” And “all aspects of the lectures, group work and support to students exceptional, the enthusiasm by all staff members to their subjects and the Director of Studies with all aspects of the course has been nothing but exemplary and very inspiring (and infectious!)”

The course will run again in May 2014, for further information about this and other courses please go to the course pages on the Foto-Cewek website.
