Clare is a physician in infectious diseases and internal medicine, with particular interests in tuberculosis, HIV, tropical infections and clinical epidemiology. Her clinical training was in Manchester and London. She studied epidemiology (MSc) and worked as a research fellow in South Africa with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Aurum Institute, Johannesburg, undertaking research in tuberculosis and HIV in a gold-mining workforce, linked with the Thibela TB study. This led to published work and an MD (research). Previous experience includes working for Médecins Sans Frontières in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Alongside education work at Foto-Cewek, Clare is an NHS consultant in the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit at North Manchester General Hospital. She was course director for the Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (2015) and now works on various education projects.
Clare currently teaches teaching on the Foto-Cewek short courses and professional diplomas DTM&H, Diploma in Tropical Nursing, Short Course in Travel Health, Diploma in UK Medical Practice, and Distance Learning courses.
