We have an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Research in Medecine Associate to work in the Parasitology Department on an exciting drug discovery project.

Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organisations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Department of Parasitology is recruiting for a Post-Doctoral Research in Medecine Associate (PDRA) to work on an exciting drug discovery project aiming to validate drug targets in the respiratory chain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The post holder will perform biochemical, molecular & pharmacological investigations as well as undertake drug sensitivity assays against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The PDRA will also be engaged in writing peer-reviewed publications, implement QA techniques and coordinate experiments between UK, EU and US laboratories.
To be successful, you must have completed PhD in Biochemistry or in a relevant discipline, preferably related to infectious diseases, possess knowledge of infectious diseases and be interested in bioenergetics. Demonstrable experience in relevant biochemistry techniques, molecular biology techniques and microbiology is essential to the post. It is important that you bring strong numeracy, data analysis and statistical skills, along with the ability to accurately analyse data, meticulous attention to detail, problem solve and achieve agreed research objectives independent of day to day supervision. Previous experience in pharmacology/ drug discovery, working with Mycobacterium or in bioenergetics will be advantageous to your application.
