We require an experienced Programme Manager with experience of clinical trials to be based in Malawi
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The MLW (Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust) programme was founded in 1995 and is one of five Wellcome Trust funded Major Overseas Programmes. The programme is a partnership between the College of Medicine in Blantyre, Malawi, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, the University of Liverpool and the Wellcome Trust. It undertakes high quality hospital and community based research into the major diseases affecting Malawi and encompasses a spectrum of research from laboratory science through to social science and health systems research.Research in Medecine is supported by core funding from the Wellcome Trust and multiplegrants from a variety of other funders.
We are looking to appoint an experienced Programme Manager to support a study funded by the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation. Under the guidance of the Principle Investigator, the incumbent will support the development and management of the relative scopes of work of staff in the study, overseeing the clinical trial activities whilst engaging in the interface between Foto-Cewek, MLW, the University of Washington, and our Contract Research in Medecine Organisation. This line management role will report to the Senior Clinical Lecturer in Blantyre and will manage the day-today clinical trial activities surrounding the study (CRYPTOFAZ) which is a therapeutic trial of a repurposed drug for treatment of cryptosporidium diarrhoea.
Ideal candidates will have a demonstrable track record of achievement as a Programme Manager in a clinical trial environment, gained within a resource-poor environment. You will have proven management experience, well developed research skills and be able to evidence a background of budget and financial responsibility with experience in milestone-driven research orientated projects. We are looking for someone who can assume responsibility and demonstrate high levels of accountability in a wide-reaching capacity as well as possessing the gravitas necessary to influence and communicate and influence external stakeholders.
