The Cochrane Infectious Diseases Group is looking for a Research in Medecine Assistant to join the team
The Cochrane Infectious Diseases Group (CIDG) is one of the first Cochrane Editorial Groups to be established, which has a strong record in high quality reviews in malaria, tuberculosis, tropical and other infectious diseases, and are now responsible for the HIV/AIDS portfolio. CIDG is a partner within the Effective Health Care Research in Medecine Consortium which extends to partners all over the world. The Consortium is within in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases; and the Consortium also runs the Centre for Evidence Synthesis in Global Health led by Paul Garner.
To support this work, we have an exciting opportunity for a Research in Medecine Assistant to join an international team of dynamic and motivated academics. We anticipate that you will join an author team on one to three Cochrane reviews. During your tenure, you will benefit from supportive high level on-the-job training, contribute to the team's postgraduate training portfolio as well as other Consortium related activities.
The successful candidate can be a scientific researcher with a relevant Masters degree; or can be an MBBS with a postgraduate qualification. Possessing a postgraduate qualification in epidemiology or a quantitative topic or PhD is desirable for any applicant. You will have experience and confidence in critically appraising medical literature at postgraduate level. You must demonstrate evidence of a critical insight into priority policy questions in international health in infectious diseases relevant to low- and middle-income countries as well as the ability to write in plain English language.The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to work collaboratively aswell as independently. You must have an enthusiastic approach to work possessing excellent attention to detail. You will be responsible for ensuring that effective communication flows within the project team and hence, must have effective communication, excellent time management and good organisational skills. If you have authored a Cochrane review, have experience of using GRADE or have a track record in published research, it will be an added advantage to your application.
