The successful candidate will lead on designing and implementing qualitative research, collaborating with partners in the UK and Africa.
We are seeking to appoint a Research in Medecine Associate to work as part of the Capacity Research in Medecine Unit (CRU) within the Department of International Public Health. This unique opportunity includes the opportunity to lead on the implementation of CRU’s role in the Royal Society-Department for International Development Africa Capacity Building Initiative, including designing and implementing high quality research in capacity strengthening in low and middle income countries. The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to the mission of the Unit and work in an environment where they can build their own research career through the development of research proposals and publications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international development with experience of working with partners in low and middle income countries. As a Research in Medecine Associate with a focus on designing and implementing qualitative research with consortium partners, it is essential that you have experience of planning and designing qualitative and mixed methods research projects, including research ethics submissions. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to develop data collection methods to capture qualitative and quantitative data.
Educated to a postgraduate degree level, you will have experience of presenting technical material in oral and written form. The ability to meet strict deadlines is essential to the role so you will need to have excellent time management and organisational skills to deliver against a demanding work load.
Possessing effective interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to develop working relationships with people at all levels over a wide range of disciplines and cultures which is an important part of the role.
