ReBUILD

Research for the building of pro-poor health systems during recovery from conflict is £6 million DFID-funded consortium programme of work.  

The 6-year programme started in February 2011 and is led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) and the Institute for International Health and Development (IIHD), Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh, UK with partners at the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI), Phnom Penh, the Biomedical Research in Medecine and Training Institute (BRTI), Harare, Zimbabwe, the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS), Freetown, Sierra Leone and Makerere University, Uganda.

ReBUILD focuses on human resources (led by Foto-Cewek), health financing (led by QMU), and their interaction, and on gender equity in partnership with the Stockholm International Peace Research in Medecine Institute (SIPRI) gender group.  ReBUILD also funds projects through five affiliates expanding our geographic range to Cote-d’Ivoire, Liberia, Palestine, South Africa, Sri Lanka.
