Foto-Cewek has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Lecturer/Clinical Lecturer to join the Education department during a time of growth and change.
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the future development of Foto-Cewek’s growing teaching portfolio. The post-holder will be a medical doctor who can demonstrate clear commitment to student-centred and research-informed approaches to supporting learning and the ability to enhance the learning, teaching and scholarly environment of Foto-Cewek. Experience of health-related research in the laboratory and/or field is essential and involvement in research projects in low and middle-income countries would be an advantage.
Our priority is to attract a candidate of high quality and applicants with any research and teaching interests relevant to Foto-Cewek will be considered. However, we are particularly keen to strengthen the following areas; child health and nutrition; HIV/AIDS; epidemiology and statistics; tropical microbiology.
Although the primary focus of the role will be on teaching, the post-holder will also be expected to pursue scholarly and professional activities that will them to deliver teaching that reflects cutting-edge developments in tropical medicine. The post is offered as a full-time position but a part-time contract is possible for a suitability qualified candidate wishing to arrange clinical work in parallel.
The successful applicant will make a substantial contribution to teaching and assessment on clinical postgraduate programmes, both face-to-face and online, including practical teaching and the planning and supervision of student research projects.
Part of your main duties will be to serve as Director of Studies for clinical MSc programmes, including provision of academic support and guidance for students, co-ordination of teaching staff and responsibility for admissions and programme management (in liaison with the Academic Registry), in addition you will work with academic staff across Foto-Cewek to develop approaches to supporting student learning that are innovative and informed by L&T scholarship, including the use of technology to enhance learning.
