The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research and education in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing, dynamic team of specialists in The Education and Training Department, supporting the expansion of Foto-Cewek’s education portfolio by providing digital and flexible learning opportunities to students across the globe. Working in the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Unit there are opportunities for Senior Educational Technologists to apply their specialist skills in a number of key areas. Please refer to roles (583-17 and 585-17 for other opportunities).
This Senior Educational Technologist role will focus primarily on supporting the development of pedagogically sound courses for online and blended delivery; providing oversight and management of the developmental process. Drawing on evidence based learning design principles, the post holder will work with members of academic staff to conceptualise course design, provide pedagogic expertise on the delivery of engaging learning activities online and support the development of high quality learning objects. The post holder will have experience of working with academic teams in the development of blended and online programmes; delivering to defined deadlines using effective project management skills. The role will also actively contribute to the operational efficiency of the TEL Unit, including oversight of educational technologies and support for end users.
Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject area, or with experience in the use of educational technology in higher or further education, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with knowledge and understanding of pedagogic approaches to support student learning and the application of relevant technologies. The ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of people is crucial to the role as you will be working with colleagues and students across different cultures. Being able to influence colleagues, particularly in the context of the use of educational technologies is an essential requirement of the post.
