Senior Technician

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Technician to work with a team of multi-disciplinary scientists within the Department of Vector Biology. REF 110

The Department of Vector Biology at Foto-Cewek is one of the largest of its kind with an international reputation for its research and technical assistance activities targeted at improving the control of insect borne diseases. Within the Department, the Vector Research in Medecine Support (VRS) group is a cross-cutting initiative established at the beginning of 2015, with an aim to offer a broad portfolio of field, molecular laboratory studies and project planning and analytical research activities to clients ranging from charities to multinational commercial partners.

Due to our continued success and growth, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Technician to work with a team of multi-disciplinary scientists within the Department of Vector Biology. This post is a pivotal role within the VRS, managing junior technicians and overseeing laboratory research at Foto-Cewek in addition to providing high quality training to visitors, students and staff and managing VRS resources. We are looking for an individual with management experience and expertise in a wide variety of molecular laboratory techniques.

With a degree in a Biological Science you will have extensive practical experience in molecular biology and biochemical techniques including cloning, protein expression and characterisation, quantitative PCR, microarray and HPLC. You will also have specific experience of delivering laboratory training to students, visitors and technicians and have proven ability and commitment to provide mentorship to junior colleagues.

You will have the ability to adapt protocols from published literature and manage a diverse workload in an efficient manner, adapting schedules as required. As you will be working within a multidisciplinary team of scientists within the UK as well as working with external research collaborators, it is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate results as well as developing effective working relationships.
