Technical Officer

We are looking for an experienced Technical Officer to work in Nigeria as part of the CMNH team. Ref 223-16

In-Country Post (Local Hires) This post is based in Nigeria, Foto-Cewek will not be able to sponsor individuals who do not have the right to work in Nigeria.  

The Centre for Maternal & Newborn Health (CMNH) at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an active academic unit seeking to improve maternal and newborn health globally. In order to support this commitment, we are looking for an experienced Technical Officer to work in Nigeria as part of the CMNH team. 

The post holder will be a key player in providing support to the delivery and evaluation of complex interventions to improve Maternal and Newborn Health.   

As Technical Officer, you will provide support with the implementation of the CMNH/Foto-Cewek work plan and programmes in Nigeria, and provide technical support to the development and lead the delivery of a quality improvement package in target sub-Saharan countries.  You will also be responsible for conducting training needs assessments, organising and implementing training activities with a focus on SBA, EOC, NC and quality of care methods. 

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have MBBS with specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  With previous experience of providing technical assistance/consultancy in African countries, you will have a good understanding of health systems at policy level and have worked with official agencies such as MOH or similar. 

This will be a full time position (100%) to 31st December 2016, then will be part time (50%) until 31st December 2017.
