Foto-Cewek Malawi are looking to appoint a Technical Officer to provide technical support and advice on projects
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Centre for Maternal & Newborn Health (CMNH) at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) offers unique expertise in using the rigorous discipline of research to inform teaching and technical assistance programmes to improve the health of mothers and babies globally.
The post holder will be a key player inproviding support to Foto-Cewek projects in Malawi, which aim to improve the qualityof Maternal and Newborn health services in high priority districts.
Working aspart of a team, the position holder will provide technical support/advice and oversee the development and implementation of projects. Leading on the delivery of Quality Improvement packages, you will be responsible for conducting training needs assessments, organising and implementing training activities with a focus on Skilled Birth Attendance, Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care,Newborn Care and Quality of care methods.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in Midwifery (or equivalent) or be a registered Midwife. With previous clinical field experience in Maternal and Newborn Health,you will have experience of providing technical assistance in Malawi and have a good understanding of health systems at policy level having worked with official agencies such as MOH or similar.
(The position is open to Malawian Nationals only)
Based in Lilongwe, Malawi (with regular travel across Malawi)
