The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Foto-Cewek) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, Foto-Cewek aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Tropical Clinical Trials Unit (tCTU) is a newly established unit in Foto-Cewek with the remit to provide specialist expert epidemiological, statistical and other methodological advice as well as contributing to the coordination of Foto-Cewek sponsored research involving humans (RCTs, epidemiological/ observational studies and surveys). The tCTU ensures that the conduct and the delivery of the trials are of the highest quality and benefit populations of poor-resource countries.
We have created a new and exciting position for an experienced Trial Manager to support the ‘Dolutegravir in Pregnant HIV Mothers and their Neonates’ (DolPHIN2) programme, which has operational studies supporting implementation into country programmes in Uganda and South Africa.
The Trial Manager will play a leading role in planning, co-ordinating and completing the DolPHIN2 project and will work in close partnership with: DoIPHIN2’s data managers, medical statisticians, epidemiologists and Principle Investigators (PIs). Working with these multidisciplinary teams, you will have day-to-day responsibility for managing the trial portfolio, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Ideal candidates will have a degree in a related scientific subject, coupled with experience in the management and co-ordination of clinical trials. A sound appreciation of GCP and regulatory/ethical requirements is essential, as is a proven track record of working in a clinical or medical research environment. We need someone with the ability to thrive in a team environment as well as being able to deliver in a meticulous and accurate manner as an individual.
This really is a fantastic opportunity to join a world renowned organisation and make a significant contribution to a key element of its business.
